About

We Are The Homefront is a collection of military spouses stories using verbatim theater. Verbatim theater is documentary-style theatre based on the spoken words of real people. In its strictest form, verbatim theatre uses real people's words exclusively, and take this testimony from recorded interviews.

I  was inspired to do this as a way to honor my mother - a devoted military spouse and mom who maintained a not only terrific career, but also an immaculate home. While this impressive no matter the circumstances, she often did it in a country or state she was unfamiliar with, while her husband was deployed. This series celebrates the unsung heroes of military families - the spouses. The one who serves their family and our country faithfully while the service member is defending our freedoms.

Generally, popular culture and the news focuses on the military members, so we have chosen to take this opportunity to show you what a different side of military life looks like. These are true stories telling what it means to be a military spouse; because it is easy to forget that the family also serves and how important their sacrifices for our country is.

*Please note, names and duty stations have been changed to respect the privacy of the families.
